Charles Gwathmey, an American architect, was born on 19, 1938.
He was the son of Robert Gwathmey, an American painter, and Rosalie Gwathmey, a photographer. He earned a Master of Architecture degree in 1962 from Yale University, where he studied architecture after attending the University of Pennsylvania.
In 1966, Charles Gwathmey designed a house and studio for his parents in Amagansett, NY. Despite not being a licensed architect then, this project made him famous.
