Harold Leonard Cooler was born on July 21, 1921, in Coosawhatchie, S.C. He graduated valedictorian from Ridgeland High School and attended Clemson University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Architecture in 1943.
He wrote two memoirs covering specific periods of his life. The first one, Chicora Chronicle, describes his early years growing up in the rural areas of South Carolina during the Great Depression. The second one, Booster Kuester and Beyond focuses on his arrival in Charlotte and his 51-year architectural career.
Harold Leonard Cooler, at his 93, died at home on January 30, 2015.
